REVIEW : #3 - THE SCRIPT

The Script!

Featuring the hit songs "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Breakeven", an Irish alternative rock band from Dublin formed in 2001; The Script released their eponymous debut album in August 2008, where ‘The Script’, the album debuted at number one in Ireland and the UK.

Their second album, ‘Science & Faith’, was released in September 2010, and their hit songs "For the First Time" and “Nothing” sent The Script supernova...

'#3’ should have been The Script’s most difficult album to make.

However, ensued by the release of the single "Hall of Fame" (the album's lead single) - a duet with Danny's co-judge on The Voice, will.i.am. which was released; was No.1 for two weeks running, stayed in the Top Ten for two months, and at this point in time, has sold almost 400k copies.

Inspired by the hip-hop band they loved growing up, A Tribe Called Quest; ‘3#’ would see a return to rhythmic, hip-hop and influence of R&B sound that is confined to organic music with a substantial dependence on real instruments rather than sound synthesis.

The album enjoyed five weeks in the Top Ten; the single has been played more than 30k times on UK radio and was No.1 airplay for two weeks. It’s the band’s biggest selling single so far.

Track List :

"Good Ol' Days"
"Six Degrees of Separation"
"Hall of Fame" (with will.i.am)
"If You Could See Me Now"
"Glowing"
"Give the Love Around"
"Broken Arrow"
"Kaleidoscope"
"No Words"
"Millionaires"

-END-

To be honest, what caught my attention was actually the track “Six Degree of Separation” and not “Hall of Fame” the track itself were so engaging that for me...it redefines the conventional type of an emotion in a breakup song. ( felt there is some similarity in terms of music arrangement and tempo as their previous track "Before The Worse")

By breaking it up to not one…but six simple acts that portrays the degree of separation that one feels when it  occurs to them and it is expressed well in the track.

I would foresee an increase approval of the song “Six Degree of Separation” then “Hall of Fame” in the near future.

If you haven’t had a chance to listen or watch the music video, here is it :

Recommendation        : "Six Degree of Separation", "Hall of Fame"

Rating                         : 3/5
